Via CNN: “An Iranian woman, blinded by a jilted stalker who threw acid in her face, has persuaded a court to sentence him to be blinded with acid himself under Islamic law demanding an eye for an eye… Her attacker… admitted throwing acid in her face in November 2004.”

I love this eye for an eye law. I didn’t know such a law was used anywhere. I always said I wished we had it here for all those child torturers/rapists etc. Forget jail time, mutilate them with no anesthesia. Maybe they might think twice. OFF WITH THE PE%!$3$. You dismember a child you get it back.

Give the Islamic Republic some credit.

The purpose of penalties should be to deter crime — this seems much more of a deterrent than 10 years in jail, where the criminal would be harden and from where he would leave angrier and with street cred.

Where is the Useless, UN human rights watch on this one? Or do they only condemn people who fight terrorists and people like this man who blinded and disfigured a women. Get your damn priorities straight, and stop the slaughters and genocides in Africa and the muslim nations….and stop wasting time and money on watching how the good nations of this world defend and fight terrorism. Otherwise, the money wasting, useless, impotent and incompetent U.N should be dismantled.

I should be clear; this is a clear-cut case where she says he did it and he says he did it. No ambiguity.

Should also note that this “Islamic law” come out of the Old Testament.

I am personally against “an eye for an eye” type of justice, if it can be called that.

I much prefer “two eyes for an eye” type of justice whereby if person A pokes out an eye of person B, then person B gets to poke out both eyes of person A.

See, THAT, now, is real deterrent. Why would you face the prospect of having both of yours eyes poked out when you get to poke out only one of his eyes?

And, yes, I am being facetious.
