I guess this is cheaper than buying BMW. :)

Who needs a BMW when you can drive something with a Hemi?

Congrats! Those Czechs sure do make some fine pistols.

I asked a trusted comrade with much experience in firearms for some recommendations, and the CZ75B was among them. I won’t have the chance to try it out for a couple of weeks, but will be sure to post an update when I do.

Richardson, enjoy it while you can. Once the Grinch is in office, he’ll take away your toy and tax you until you can’t afford the ammo. My sinister plan to work very hard and save a lot of money is starting to look dummer and dummer.

Whoville will never be the same. I’m afraid the Grinch will do more than that so am buying now!

E-mart doesn’t have the boomstick selection that S-mart has back in the States so I’m incredibly screwed. Then again, I travel so often to the land of no-guns I’d probably need to sell whatever I bought before the next deployment.

The next purchase should be a case (1,000 rounds) of 9mm Parabellum, preferably 124 grain NATO-spec.

    Check Ammoman.com.

Oh, yeah, and some Federal Hydra-Shok JHP (also 124 grain) for social use.

And some spare full capacity (not neutered Clinton-era 10-round) magazines. At least 4 (there WILL be another AWB, this time permanent).

Finally, I suggest you replace the extractor spring with a Wolff spring. CZ-75’s are built like tanks, but if there is one weakness, it’s the undersprung extractor spring that will occasionally fail and produce FTEs. A $4 part will virtually eliminate that potential issue.

Have my own new toy, a Beretta 92FS. Have had her out on the range the last two weekends, and love the thing. Am going to take your commenter’s advice about ammo. Congrats.

Beretta 92FS (or US Army M9) is a smooth-shooting, accurate gun. Unlike most modern pistols that utilize the Browning-style tilting barrel (which slightly and adversely affects accuracy), the Beretta barrel stays straight during recoil.

There are two issues with the Beretta. First, the grip circumference is monstrously large. The double action trigger reach is all but unusable except for the very large-handed.

That is not to say one cannot train onself to shoot it well. You can learn to manipulate that long double action trigger with enough practicce, but it will take more time to master than, say, the short 5.5 lbs. Glock trigger.

The other issue, which has been beaten to a pulp on the Net, is the tendency of heavily shot 92F to break the slide and launch it backward at the operator. During the early 92F usage by the US military, at least one SEAL operator was struck in the face by such a slide. Beretta responded by installing a “slide retention device” to keep the slide from launching back in the event of a failure, leading to the moderl designation 92FS.

Likely the vast majority of people will NOT experience this problem. That particular SEAL probably shot his pistol A LOT (and the SIG-Sauer pistols also experienced cracking).

Still, the open-topped slide design is probably not as robust as the traditional closed slide design, esp. compared to something like the CZ-75 with its slide-in-frame design (shared with the legendary SIG P210, reputedly the finest and the most accurate factory-made handgun in the world).

Also because of the open-topped slide design, 92FS does tend to suffer a bit in dusty/sand environment and requires more frequent cleaning (then again, in such an environment, all weapons and equipment are cleaned more frequently).
