In a previous post on Pyongyang Soju being imported to the U.S., I used pics from a bottle I have, which was purchased in South Korea. Jason Perlow of Off the Broiler sampled some Pyongyang Soju at a Korean restaurant in New Jersey and has photos of the updated labels (looks like it was $5.99 a bottle).
- #OFK has a telling post (w/video) on Joe Biden's North Korea policy. It's hard to do much of a related post on Obama since he hasn't even completed one term in the senate and so has a thin record. See all Election 2008 posts.
- #15 August is the 63rd anniversary of Victory over Japan (V-J) Day, or Liberation Day in North and South Korea. It’s hard to imagine how the North Koreans could explain the significance of the day without mentioning the U.S. doing the heavy lifting, but they still manage to do so.
- #North Korean Economy Watch has released version 11 of his layer/bookmarks for North Korea in Google Earth - easily the most authoritative map of North Korea on the web.

Seems he’s getting my wife’s looks. I always told her I hope he has her looks and my brains, but she didn’t take it as a compliment.

Congratulations on the new baby. Looking at your wonderful photos I’ve taken the liberty of doing a quick survey of some of the books my sister-in-law has around the house from when her family was still young. You have a wonderful looking family, but do you encourage them to learn Korean. I’ve listed a few of the books that I have accumulated ahead of our first child expected in winter, and you might appreciate some of them too. I’ve included some links to Kyobo, but you can get these titles from any good bookstore. Remember, books are food for a child’s mind, we are what we read!!

Maybe you would prefer your children to develop an interest in philosophy or other life mysteries. I found this heart warming tale about overcoming adversity truly inspiring, while according to Midas, the title on the shelves on over 90% of Top 100 Korea CEOs for its innovative approach to passing on the secrets is this austere publication about wealth creation. I haven’t read it so I don’t know how dry it is.
Personally, I liked these works critiquing revisionist look at the Korean Creation Myth and modern society’s turn away from Christianity.
Oh, don’t be too wary about politicizing your kid too early, try reading to it this factual account of jewish conspiracy and the US role in the http://www.kyobobook.co.kr/product/detailViewKor.laf?ejkGb=KOR&mallGb=KOR&barcode=9788989843177&orderClick=LAH” rel=”nofollow”>destruction of Palestinian agricultural land. If you search on the kyobo site, you should be able to find some spoken word cassettes, however for DVDs, I’d stick to the Internet, just be careful with your credit card, popups, and use a proxy server if you intend to view anything illegal (ie, kids, animals, politics).
I could go on and on, but its best you get looking for himself. My sincere apologies ahead of any broken links.
