Korean Peninsula Shaped Island in North Korea
by Richardson ~ May 28th, 2008. Filed under: Blogs & Blogging, North Korea.North Korean Economy Watch has released North Korea Google Earth (version 10), an amazing compilation of locations that cover;
…North Korea’s agriculture, aviation, cultural locations, markets, manufacturing facilities, railroad, energy infrastructure, politics, sports venues, military establishments, religious facilities, leisure destinations, and national parks. It is continually expanding and undergoing revisions.
The list of updates is extensive. NK Econ Watch provides a file that acts as a layer of bookmarks and descriptions for Google Earth. The data is arranged in many categories and subcategories – you can spend hours going to the sites cataloged. To find out exactly where the island is, look under “other stuff

That’s pretty damned amazing.
I should add that when I first opened up GE after clicking on NKEcon’s update, the whole damn country was carpted in placemarks. It was nothing short of stunning.

There are so many placemarks that I usually view only a few categories at a time, otherwise it’s too cluttered. For anyone thinking of taking a gander, that’s a very good thing!

NKEconWatch’s Google Earth resource is extensive and deserves a lot of praise. Which was why I was so damned puzzled when his blog was not included on wiki.

The island picture is pretty incredible, but the mapping work done by NKEconWatch is even more incredible. I can only imagine how long he has been working on this project.
