East Asia Intel: Israel Hit North Korean Missiles in Syria

From East-Asia-Intel.com (subscription):

The Dair el Zor raid in Syria on Sept. 6 was not against a nuclear facility but a major arms depot… “Dair el Zor houses a huge underground base where the Syrian army stores the long and medium-range missiles it mostly buys from Iran and North Korea,” the newsletter reported. “The attack by the Israeli air force coincided with the arrival of a stock of parts for Syria’s 200 Scud B and 60 Scud C weapons.”

The raid was carried out after a North Korean container ship, flying a Panamanian flag, shipped missile parts to Syria… “The trucks and their loads were destroyed the moment they arrived at the underground base. A unit of military police that escorted the convoy was also wiped out in the attack.” (emaphasis added)

Again, this is more unverified speculation.

There have been so many unverified versions of this story over the past couple of weeks its getting difficult to keep up with all of them. Bottom line, Israel has maintained a news blackout and this is very unusual. They are usually very quick to publicize their successes.
This raises a number of questions - for which there are only speculative answers!

It is unlikely to get an answer anytime soon.

Sorry for the late replies on this…

I agree Israel’s reaction has been odd, but also think they might find it to their advantage to create that perception. Too many variables to know (from press reports) what is actual, and I’ll go with my gut feeling that it’s related to missiles or WMD other than nuclear.

I also agree we’ll probably not find the truth any time soon.

Looks like Israel admitted striking a target, but will not say what.
