New Report on Human Rights Abuses in North Korea

by Richardson ~ June 21st, 2007. Filed under: Defectors & Refugees, Human Rights, North Korea.

The report is:

…based on interviews with 80 North Korean former political prisoners and prison guards, comes amid fresh signs that Beijing is cracking down on North Koreans trying to flee across the border into China, a move ascribed to preparations for next year’s Olympic games.

Most of the witnesses have experience in the camps from the mid to late 1990s, so firsthand knowledge is a bit dated, but they likely have extensive contacts with current experience and information on the camps. Get the 116 page report here (PDF).

I like it you run a website about the DPRK but have never been inside the country from what I can gather.
I am a 50 year old man with a English father and a North Korean mother.
I was raised in England and but at the age of 23 I visited North Korea for the first time to visit my family.
I have altogether spent over 10 years staying in North Korea and the stories the western media and people like you put out about the country are laughable.
Yes there is propaganda in DPRK but it is very small compared to what the west puts out about DPRK.
You running a web site about the DPRK and what happens there is the same as me running one about America. I have never been to America so all I know is what I see on. So I don’t know if what I hear about America is true or not.
But you seem to think you can do this about my mothers country, a county you know nothing about.

    Hi Paul,

    10,000 defectors are wrong?

I’m not going to beat around the bush, I’m pretty sure you’re a liar and an apologist for North Korea.

If you care to back up your claims with any better explanation or evidence, go for it, that’d be great.
