June Anniversaries on the Korean Peninsula

USinKorea has a related page on the anti-Americanism that flared beginning about two months later, after the 2002 World Cup games that were held in Seoul.
Seven years ago former ROK President Kim Dae-jung was in Pyongyang submitting to Kim Jong-il, as both USinKorea and Gar (of the Nomad’s) remind us. The wonderful summit was allowed after Kim Dae-jung arranged for half a billion dollars to be given to North Korea, which basically means he purchased his Nobel Peace Prize.
Let we forget, June 2002 also saw a North-South sea battle that was downplayed and forgotten by the ROK government, not wanting to upset North Korea and the spectacular progress the Sunshine Policy has yielded.
Last but not least, four months ago today the deal was reached (DOC) in which North Korea agreed to shutdown its nuclear reactor at Yongbyon for 50,000 tons of fuel oil (officially) and the release of $25 million in tainted funds from Banco Delta Asia (not officially part of the 13 February deal). Those fund were unfrozen by at least 10 April, but tomorrow will be two months past the deadline and the reactor is still running.
