Vintage Reagan
by Richardson ~ May 2nd, 2007. Filed under: America, History, Humor. President Reagan’s diary is about to be published. There are some excerpts in the article, including the following vintage Reagan remark:
A 1981 entry on Cuban leader Fidel Castro said: “Intelligence reports say he Castro is very worried about me. I’m very worried that we can’t come up with something to justify his worrying.”
There will not be another like him!

My favorite, him joking to the docs after he was shot, “I hope you’re all Republicans.”

Nah, the best was his mic check just before an interview where he said “My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.” He was unaware that he was being broadcasted.
Or better yet, “I want you to know that also I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent’s youth and inexperience.” This occurred during the debate with Mondale.
Here’s a whole page of quotes….man, I miss him.

This one is great! “Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.”

LMAO, and you wonder why the so-called Republican candidates are grasping at Reagan’s ghost. Too bad they arent as funny as he was. Guliani and his “Brooklyn Deli” routine is not funny at all.
