Kim Jong-il Reportedly Forbids Talk of His Succession
by Richardson ~ January 5th, 2007. Filed under: Kim Jong-il.
It seems like just a year ago (it was) that speculation was running rampant that Kim Jong-chol (a.k.a. ‘The Commander’) was being considered the heir apparent due to his portrait being placed in prominent places.
Now, according to the Mainichi Shimbun, the Dear Leader, “has banned discussions in Pyongyang’s leadership concerning his successor, expressing his will to continue exercising real power as the prime leader for the long term.” Kim is quoted as saying, “I can still work for a long time as the top leader. Even in my 80s or 90s, I still can (rule).”
Probably the South Korean prison system will try to keep him alive for a long time.
