by Richardson ~ October 18th, 2006. Filed under: Blogs & Blogging.Joshua has an excellent interview at OneFreeKorea: Interview: L. Gordon Flake, Executive Director, Mansfield Foundation. I found myself agreeing with almost everything Mr. Flake has to say – a definite must read.

I agree, very informative (both the questions and the responses). Joshua, couple of questions for you (sorry, you don’t seem to have the comments set up on the interview post over on your site…)
1. You mention Mr. Flake’s views as being, in your words “…classically liberal”. Could you give me some specifics that you think came through in his responses and/or opinions from this interview? I didn’t get the feeling he was an apologist, far from it. I think you made that point in your introduction.
2. I was puzzled by his attitude towards the series of recent evidences concerning potential famine. I think I understand where the “pro-famine” (yikes, is that an acceptable term?) data would be coming from (WFP, NGO’s), but where would the evidence he spoke of taking the opposite view be coming from? I hope not the DPRK! (little joke).
Thanks

James, Thanks for your kind words. My new template — comments on that invited, btw — has some oddities. One of them is that you have to click the main post’s URL to comment on it. If you click the title, you’ll be taken to another page, with a comment window at the bottom.
We’ll carry on the discussion about famine, food aid, and classical liberalism there.
