I came across this (work safe) a few weeks ago and noticed there were only a few photos of North Korean female soldiers (they do have several from the ROK, though). I’ve posted a few below. Some are propaganda pics, some are via tourists, but all are interesting. If you have links to more, put ‘em in a comment.

Yeah, nice. Even better, someone Photoshopped (fairly good job) that pic to KJI looking at a line of models - Matt of Occidentalism found that one.

DPRK Soldiers, Female Type
[…] I totally forgot about the North Korean website until I was amusingly reminded by a blog posting of North Korean female soldiers on The Korea Liberator. I went through the Korean Friendship Association (KFA) part of the website and came across their page for travel to North Korea. There's an August trip scheduled for the 12th through the 22nd if anyone's interested for a late summer getaway. I think I'll put that on my short list next to Myanmar/Burma, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Sudan, and Nigeria to name a few. Posted by classmlifeform Filed in Uncategorized […]

From the experiences of many of my friends who went to Mt. Kumkang (I refuse to go because I don’t want to give NK any of my money) NK only allows very attractive women to work there. It makes me wonder how many pictures of women in the North are deliberately selected to emphasize the women’s looks, as well. I imagine they are pretty picky.

Some of the women in quilted suits aren’t exactly models, but I agree that all of the propaganda pics are going to show the most attractive. Some of the tourist photos will pick up others, but one must assume that they might be selected to be in tourist areas.
As far as Kumgangsan, I read a few years ago that the North Korea females were replaced with ethnic Korean Chinese after too many South Korean business men attempted to get some strange.
