Poll: Koreans Have High Trust in Internet News

From BBC News (h/t Pelagius): S Koreans ‘trust internet news’
Approximately 85% of South Koreans asked said they put a high value on accessing news over the internet, a much higher proportion than in other countries. . . fewer than half those polled said they trusted the broadcast or newspaper journalism they were offered. And 40% of South Koreans said they had changed their news source over the past year because of a lack of trust.
I recognize that “most important source” does not equal “trust,” but changing from traditional to internet media due to a lack of trust in one implies more trust in the other. I have had arguments about ‘fan death’ with SNU PhD candidates, and their “proof” was that it was “in the news, it must be true.” Not trusting newspaper or TV news - but trusting online news, who could in fact be controlled by the same companies or organizations not trusted in traditional media - also falls well short of anything logical. But perhaps I shouldn’t be so critical, in light of other news.

The survey is a little confusing, because as you noted, traditional media in Korea control most of the online news, and so it’s mainly the same content in another form…without some specifics (”changed their news source” from what to what?) I’d say this is a non-story.

That is the story!

So do Koreans trust online porn more than porn in magazines?
