DPRK claims Bronze in U.S. ‘greatest enemy’ poll
by Richardson ~ February 24th, 2006. Filed under: America, North Korea.According to a recent poll by Gallup, North Korea (15 percent) came in third behind Iran (31 percent) and Iraq (22 percent) when Americans were asked to name America’s greatest enemy. The margin of error was 3 percent, so even if Kim Jong-il argued to add the margin to North Korea and subtract if from Iraq, he could not clam the Silver. North Korea is still not getting the attention it deserves.

I find it odd that so many Americans would consider Iraq to be a “great enemy.” I could see some people thinking turmoil in Iraq (if not out-right civil war as the past few days may harbinger) being a threat to peace and therefore American security, but not an enemy.

I thought the same thing; some people or groups in Iraq are our enemies no doubt - but not the country. But Gallup didn’t ask me.

Which is why I have raised the chance of a major provocation in the next 6 months to a year.
If the sanctions are hurting as they seem, and since there is no indication NK can get them lifted any other way, it might decide to risk pissing off China and SK with a ICBM test or other major provocation.

KJI’s usual threats aren’t getting the rise out of the US that it used to, so maybe he will have to up the ante so as to get more free goodies and concessions. Not that the US will take the bait, but SK will probably send tons and tons more freebies.
