SK takes note of U.S. ‘pan-mi’ backlash

There are signs of anti-Korean sentiment among Washington D.C. intellectuals. Unprecedented mockery and criticism against Korea has appeared, and anti-Korean sentiment, usually seen among Republicans, is showing signs of spreading to Democrats as well. Even pro-Korean people do not deny the recent spread of anti-Korean sentiment in Washington…
The article has a few specific examples, but the author needs to be careful of calling criticisms against anti-U.S. groups, “criticism against Korea.” Yes, yes, I’ve heard a million times that Korean is a language with vagueness built into it, but those are two very different things.
This trend - public recognition of South Korea’s anti-U.S. vein, including its president - is long overdue and a welcomed turn of events. I am not one calling for a withdrawal of U.S. troops, since I see a direct link between U.S. troops coming out of Korea and an arms races in Asia, but think Americans should be more aware.
But perhaps some consumer awareness in the U.S. would hit South Korea where it hurts; last years backlash against France saw sales of French products in the U.S. plummet. Something similar of South Korea might serve as a well deserved wake-up call.
