NK ZONE RESPONDS TO KRISTOF

by Richardson ~ July 30th, 2005. Filed under: Blogs & Blogging, Fiskings.

It seems that Nicholas Kristof has drawn more fire from the community of Korea-watchers, the latest being this lengthy response at NK Zone.

A similar article by Kristof touching on the same issues a week earlier drew this reaction from Korea Sojourner, and this from DPRK Studies.

Kristof has millions of readers, yet is dangerously selective in the ‘facts’ that he uses, or misuses, or just gets wrong.

Kristof showed himself to be a stupid ass in the article I took a crap on. Why he felt the need to write it, I can only guess at.

He says the 6 party talks are ridiculous for the US to even sit down at, now that NK has agreed to them, because NK has shown it won’t listen even if it sits down. And he chides Bush for not doing what only makes sense — sitting down one on one in a format North Korea wants and thus is more likely to take seriously. But, he adds as the cherry on top the idea that on one on one talks, the US can bring up human rights too.

As if bringing up human rights would not automatically clamp North Korea’s ears shut.

It is one of the worst thought out editorials by a major media source I can recall to memory off the top of my head.

    Truly pathetic….
